JAMES BOND

The James Bond film series is a series of motion pictures based on the fictional character of MI6 agent James Bond (code designation "007"), who originally appeared in a series of fictional books by Ian Fleming. Earlier films were based on Fleming's novels and short stories, followed later by films with original storylines.
The franchise is one of the longest continually-running film series in history, having been in ongoing production from 1962 to the present (with a six-year hiatus between 1989 and 1995). In that time Eon Productions has produced 22 films, at an average of about one every two years, usually produced at Pinewood Studios. The series has grossed just over US$5 billion to date, making it the second-highest-grossing film series of all-time (behind Harry Potter).

PULP FICTION

Pulp Fiction is a 1994 American crime film directed by Quentin Tarantino, who co-wrote its screenplay with Roger Avary.
The film is known for its rich, eclectic dialogue, ironic mix of humor and violence, nonlinear storyline, and host of cinematic allusions and pop culture references.
The film was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture; Tarantino and Avary won for Best Original Screenplay. It was also awarded the Palme d'Or at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival. A major critical and commercial success, it revitalized the career of its leading man, John Travolta, who received an Academy Award nomination, as did costars Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman.

DIE HARD

The Die Hard series is a series of four action films beginning with Die Hard in 1988. All four films are centered around the character of John McClane (portrayed by Bruce Willis), a New York City police detective who finds himself fighting a group of terrorists in each episode.
There are also several video games based on the films, as well as a comic book series released in August 2009.
McClane's marriage is in a constant state of crisis, his vigilantism and disregard for authority have put him in danger of losing his job more than once, and he is a chain-smoker who is described as "two steps away from becoming a full blown alcoholic", which McClane jokingly upgrades to only "one step".
The trailer for the first Die Hard film states, "The last thing McClane wants is to be a hero, but he doesn't have a choice."
In the second film, he is told "You're the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time", to which he replies, "The story of my life."
In the fourth film, he says he gets involved in dangerous situations "because there is nobody else to do it."

LEON: THE PROFESSIONAL

Léon (also known as The Professional and Léon: The Professional) is a 1994 French/American action thriller film written and directed by Luc Besson.
It stars Jean Reno as a mob hitman (killer), Gary Oldman as a corrupt DEA agent, a young Natalie Portman, in her feature film debut, as a 12-year-old girl who is taken in by the hitman after her family is murdered, and Danny Aiello as the mobster who gives the hitman his assignments.
The film received generally favorable reviews from critics. As of January 2011, the film holds a "Certified Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an aggregate rating of 78% based on 40 critical reviews. However, the inclusion of the 12-year-old Mathilda character, and Gary Oldman's deliberately overstated portrayal of corrupt DEA officer Norman Stansfield, polarized critics.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE

The Mission: Impossible films are a series of action films based on the television series of the same name.
The films feature Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, an I.M.F agent.
The series follows the exploits of the Impossible Missions Force (IMF), a small team of secret agents used for covert missions against dictators, evil organizations, and (primarily in later episodes) crime lords.
On occasion, the IMF also mounts unsanctioned, private missions on behalf of its members.

THE FUGITIVE

The Fugitive is a 1993 American thriller film based on the television series of the same name.
The film was directed by Andrew Davis and stars Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones.
The film was one of the few movies associated with a television series to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
This is also a Hollywood producer's orgasmic dream with a chase scene beginning in the first reel and lasting throughout. It is based on the 60s TV show of the same name, but gets its premise from a true crime story, that of Ohioan Dr. Sam Shepherd who actually went to jail for murdering his wife in the 50s. He too claimed to have fought off the real killer, but the forensic evidence and his personality were against him. Here we have Harrison Ford as the good doctor, and it doesn't take a Hollywood genius to tell you that the most popular leading man of the late twentieth century ain't about to play the kind of guy who murders his loving wife.

THE JASON BOURNE SERIES

The Jason Bourne spy film series is loosely based on Robert Ludlum's novel of the same name. It stars Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, an amnesiac attempting to discover his true identity amidst a clandestine conspiracy within the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). This is the story of a man whose wounded body is discovered by fishermen who nurse him back to health. He can remember nothing and begins to try to rebuild his memory based on clues such as the Swiss bank account, the number of which, is implanted in his hip. He soon realizes that he is being hunted and search to find out who he is and why he is being hunted.
This film is the first in the Bourne film series, being followed by The Bourne Supremacy (2004), and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007). The fourth movie, The Bourne Legacy, is scheduled for release in July 2012.
The character has been in eight sequel novels (the last six of which are written by Eric Van Lustbader) with another novel due to be released in 2012.

ZATOICHI

Zatoichi is a fictional character featured in one of Japan's longest running series of films and a television series set in the Edo period. The character, a blind masseur and swordmaster, was created by novelist Kan Shimozawa. This originally minor character was developed for the screen by Daiei Studios and actor Shintaro Katsu, who created the screen version. A total of 26 films were made from 1962 to 1989. From 1972 to 1974, a television series of the same name was made. One hundred and twelve episodes were aired before the "Zatoichi" television series was cancelled.
Film number 17 of the original series was remade in America in 1990 as Blind Fury, an action movie starring Rutger Hauer.
More recently, Takeshi Kitano directed and starred in a 2003 Zatoichi movie. Presented at the Venice Film Festival, it won the prestigious Silver Lion for Best Director award, and went on to numerous other awards both at home and abroad.

THE GETAWAY

The Getaway is a 1972 American action-crime film directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw.
A recently released ex-con and his loyal wife go on the run after a bank rob goes wrong.
It was remade in 1994 starring Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger.

HERO

Hero is a 2002 wuxia* film directed by Zhang Yimou. Starring Jet Li as the nameless protagonist, the film is based on the story of Jing Ke's assassination attempt on the King of Qin in 227 BC.
Hero was first released in China on October 24, 2002. At that time, it was the most expensive project and the highest-grossing motion picture in Chinese film history.
The film received extremely favorable reviews, scoring 95% at Rotten Tomatoes and 84 at Metacritic.Roger Ebert called it "beautiful and beguiling, a martial arts extravaganza defining the styles and lives of its fighters within Chinese tradition."

* Wuxia is a broad genre of Chinese fiction concerning the adventures of martial artists. MAD MAX

"Mad" Max Rockatansky, sometimes referred to as The Road Warrior and The Man with No Name, is the main character from director George Miller's Mad Max franchise, appearing in the films Mad Max (1979), Mad Max 2 (1981), and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (!985). Max was played by actor Mel Gibson. The fourth film in the series, tentatively titled Mad Max 4: Fury Road is in pre-production.
These films are Australian anti-utopian action film directed by George Miller. The film stars Mel Gibson, who was unknown at the time. Its narrative based around the traditional western genre, Mad Max tells a story of breakdown of society, love and revenge. It became a top-grossing Australian film and has been credited for further opening up the global market to Australian New Wave films.
The film initially polarised critics. In a 1979 review they condemned Mad Max, saying that it had "all the emotional uplift of Mein Kampf" and would be "a special favourite of rapists, sadists, child murderers and incipient [Charles] Mansons." However, Rotten Tomatoes considered it as one of the best films of 1979.

IN THE LINE OF FIRE

In the Line of Fire is a 1993 American thriller film about a disillusioned and obsessed former CIA agent who attempts to assassinate the President of the United States and the Secret Service agent who tracks him.
The film was directed by Wolfgang Petersen and stars Clint Eastwood as Agent Frank Horrigan and John Malkovich as assassin Mitch Leary.
Eastwood's character is the sole active-duty Secret Service agent remaining from the detail guarding John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas, at the time of his assassination in 1963.
Rene Russo, Dylan McDermott, Gary Cole, John Mahoney, and Fred Thompson also star.
The film received mostly positive reviews, carrying a "Certified Fresh" rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

THE FRENCH CONNECTION

The French Connection is a 1971 American crime film directed by William Friedkin.
The film was adapted and fictionalized by Ernest Tidyman from the non-fiction book by Robin Moore.
It tells the story of New York Police Department detectives named "Popeye" Doyle and Buddy "Cloudy" Russo, whose real-life counterparts were Narcotics Detectives Eddie Egan and Sonny Grosso. Egan and Grosso also appear in the film, as characters other than themselves.
It was the first R-rated movie to win the Academy Award for Best Picture since the introduction of the MPAA film rating system.

This is an intense, unremitting, intelligent and incredibly fast-paced film which blends action, cinematic realism, art and humor into a masterwork of hard-edged crime drama.
